Personal Goals for the Love of Myself (Studio Owner Edition)

I quite enjoy the New Year. I am one of those people who makes New Year’s resolutions. I don’t regularly keep them, but I continue to make them. I believe in the psychology of the significance of a symbolic fresh start. If Jan 1, 2020 could start on a Monday, that would have been even better. The symbolism of a new month, new year, new decade. Its so exciting, the promise of what’s to come. This year it is about establishing boundaries and fighting for myself. I have always been a people pleaser and never was very good at putting up boundaries and standing up for myself when I should. But since becoming a small business owner, the lack of boundaries has led me to never have any down time. Its so easy to do work on my phone, ipad, and computer now, that I literally could be working on the studio all the time. I actually have gotten frustrated because I cant do work when I’m driving. So I make phone calls (hands free of course). But no one can keep up that schedule forever. And I certainly cant anymore. i love my studio, it is another love of my life. I pour everything into it and because of that can get hurt when something doesn’t go right. But it is a business, and things wont always go right. Putting boundaries in place will help me find space to relax, take a break, rejuvenate, and not be so emotionally invested in the business. Being passionate about what I do and what my studio stands for is so important and it could not be successful without passion. But it needs me to also be rested, creative, engaged. Those things require downtime, rest, and space. So what about you, do you have any new years resolutions?
